This was the largest of the production boats built by Fairey Marine. Initially 33' long and with a beam of with a beam of 11' 5", they came in either an aft cabin or open cockpit version. Like the Huntress and Huntsman 28 they were also available in kit form or as a hull only if required. In the middle of the production Faireys introduced an upgraded version called the Super Swordsman along with 4 stretched versions at 38 feet (1) and 42 feet (3) in length.
4 boats competed in various Cowes -Torquay races; they were Frivola, Swordsman Brown, Gusty of Hamble and Sou Too. Hull No. 1 ordered by Mr. Brown of Sestrel Compass fame.
9 boats are still unaccounted for - no details available (possibly left the factory as kit boats). Only 2 boats have remained with the same owner, namely Apollyon and Sea Swordsman. Cyrano (formerly owned by the actress Deborah Kerr) has now returned to England from Spain to join her new owner.
Same as for Huntress/Huntsman but with extra veneers.
The price in 1970 for complete boat £16,150 inc. twin Ford 175hp diesels and £32,450 in 1973 for Super Swordsman inc. Twin Mermaid 180hp diesels.
